Companies should be looking to take on IT candidates and other jobseekers that have the ability to work well in a team according to Kirsty McLatchie from The Plymouth Half Marathon Team.
Ms McLatchie suggested that teams who operate well in the business world are much the same as those who operate well in a marathon sense or in the outside world.
She added that by running a marathon or a similar team exploit, a spirit can be engendered within a workforce that can easily be applied to business operations.
"Running together, in fact training of any kind, can be lots of fun too. It's also a great thing to talk to clients about or even get them involved with and extend client relationships in a positive, informal way," said Ms McLatchie.
The Plymouth Half Marathon will take place on June 3rd 2011 with this year seeing the launch of a new category The Corporate Challenge, which aims to encourage people who work together to get involved.
