Lorien Resourcing were awarded a place on our IT PSL for both permanent and contractor positions in March 2006 along with two other IT agencies, following a robust, procurement lead tender process. Previously HML IT managers had worked directly with a wide range of agencies and our costs, service levels and resource planning were difficult to manage. With the IT PSL came a centralised recruitment process, managed through the People and Development Recruitment Team but which still encouraged the IT Managers to speak directly with our agents.
At first this was quite a culture change for HML IT Managers, but they quickly began to see the benefits of working more closely with fewer suppliers and the Lorien team have worked extremely hard to build up the relationships with the IT Managers and the Recruitment Team which are key to really make this type of approach work.
We are now operating at a highly professional, consultative level where our managers can discuss the vacancy brief with Lorien, receive feedback about market conditions and feel secure that Lorien have our business and its success as a key driver when they are searching for candidates for us. The managers trust that if the right candidate is out there, Lorien will find them and if the candidate is not out there Lorien will suggest alternative ways of fulfilling the role requirements.
Lorien now know us so well that we are very confident in sharing our full Corporate Strategy with them and really do view the relationship as a partnership. With all relationships there are elements of give and take but we feel that we have this balance right for the benefit of both of our companies. Our PSL was up for review this spring, but we were so happy with the placement quality and quantity for the last 2 years, that we decided to defer the re-tender for another year.
