Branch Network

We have over 580 branches covering over 90% of the UK and Northern Ireland. Each branch has a Manager and a team of advisors – the numbers vary between our smaller 2 – 3 person branches, which suit smaller village locations, and our larger 10 – 15 person branches which we have in many of the towns and cities across the UK.

Our Branch Teams sell a variety of insurance products by providing friendly and informative technical advice from a wide range of insurers. It’s their responsibility to not only gain new business but to ensure that this business is renewed year on year and not lost to our competitors.

Head Office

Based in the heart of Manchester’s city centre, our head office is home to the board of directors and all of the support teams for the Group;

• HR – Resourcing, Rewards and Benefits, Payroll, Relations and Training and Development.
• Facilities – Helpdesk, Purchasing, Estates and Services.
• IT – Service Delivery, Infrastructure Development, Information Systems Development.

Commercial Division

From its humble beginnings back in April 2004 with just 4 advisors waiting for the phone to ring, Swinton Commercial has gone from strength to strength. The division now operates from 8 sites around the country and with a team of over 220 staff.

With commercial acquisitions, we have access to a number of commercial insurance schemes for schools, surgeries, fish & chip shops/takeaways and even bouncy castles!

During 2007, the business established a team of 7 Commercial Account Executives in different locations around the UK - North West, North East, East Midlands, South Coast, North/Mid Wales and more recently, Gloucester/The Cotswolds as a result of the Hollands acquisition - to service and retain our existing high value customers and also generate new business from more complex risks.

The Small Business Centre in Manchester has grown rapidly over the past 4 years, delivering almost £1m GPI in our first 9 months of operation, £7.8m GPI in 2005, £13.8m in 2006, and £17.5m GPI at the end of 2007.

Today, with the addition of the acquired businesses of Vectis Insurance Services on the Isle of Wight, Rockford (in Lancashire and Yorkshire), Andinsure (Preston and Birmingham) and the recently acquired Lawrences Insurance Brokers in Kent, Swinton Commercial now accounts for £47m GPI.

Call Centres and Specialist Units

There are 5 areas within this division:

Inbound Call Centre: Based across 2 locations (Manchester and Halifax) the teams here handle inbound calls from a variety of sources: possible new business calls from comparison sites, out of hours calls from customers trying to contact their branch and overflow calls from our Internet Division.

Outbound Call Centre: Also based across 2 sites (Halifax and Norwich). The teams are responsible for making calls to prospective and existing customers to sell a wide range of products. This area is also involved in trialling new products to see if they could be a viable business proposition for us.

Swinton Internet Division: Based in Norwich and home to inbound sales teams who offer support and additional products to customers who have purchased with us on-line. There is also a small team of customer service advisors who offer support to existing customers who have purchased a particular type of product.

Motorcycle Unit: Based in Maidstone, this unit is fully responsible for selling our various products aimed solely at the bike industry (sports bikes, quads, scooters etc)

Specialist Division: There are 4 teams within this division – Safeguard, based in Leeds, who handle business for Caravans and Motorhomes. Taxi, based in Manchester who handle Taxi business, Specialist, based in Manchester, who handle insurance for anyone with an imported, classic, kit or non-standard car and the Staff Sales Unit, based in Manchester, who manage product sales for all our employees and their friends and families.
